This image gallery contains photos from the historic town of Hampi, located in the state of Karnataka, India. It is famous for its ruins and landscape.
Hampi from the rooftop of our guesthouse
Hanging out at some runs on top of the hill and making a plan for tomorrow
Like the photos from Hampi? In that case, you may wanna check out my Story from traveling in India.
Cows freely walk everywhere. They are untouchable by religion and by the law. One night, a cow walked into a small restaurant where we were having dinner!
A shrine – tree next to the ‘Monkey’ temple, on top of the hill, of course.
Ruins everywhere…
Riverfront behind the temple – this is where people take a holy bath
The man is giving an elephant a holy bath

In the temple, you can touch the elephant for good luck
Hampi is incredibly hot. In order to avoid the midday heat, and function normally, we have been waking up at 5 am, exploring till 11, then back in the guesthouse resting and napping, then coming out again around 4 pm.
Shiva temple – where we spent the night in order to gain the ‘special powers’. You can read about it in my India Story post.Other than the elephant and the monkeys, we saw bats in the temple.
Shiva temple is the center of town and is famous for its pilgrimage. Thus, alcohol can not be bought anywhere near the temple.
Indian food… vegetarian, spiritual, and artistic! There’s really no need for meat while traveling this country.
Want some more photos of India? I don’t blame you. Check out my photos from Tamil Nadu, which is not too far from Hampi yet very different.
