TDI: 1 What's this?

This image gallery contains photos from Banfora, a small village of Kora and Bobo Dioulasso, the second-largest city in Burkina Faso

skulls from animism practice, banfora, burkina faso
I accidentally ran across a spot where locals practice Animism, one of the traditional African religions.

Speaking of religion, Burkina Faso is a very diverse country: Islam, Christianity, Which craft, Animism, Voodoo… This article clearly explains the country’s traditional religions.

This Dome is located within walking distance from the river (first image), just outside of Banfora

cow transported on the roof of the van, bobo dioulasso, burkina faso
In Bobo Dioulasso, this medium-sized old van is transporting a cow on the roof… no joke!
the smallest house in bobo dioulasso, burkina faso
This little house is not in the countryside or a small village… It’s actually in the middle of a city! (Bobo Dioulasso)
mud nosque front, bobo dioulasso, burkina faso
Mud mosques in Bobo Dioulasso, Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso are famous for their mud architecture.

So I was running around the mosque and taking quick shots, while some local guy was hustling me and trying to be my guide. He couldn’t speak any English, but that wasn’t enough for me to convince him I don’t need his service.
farm parcels in bobo dioulasso, burkina faso
There is one unique thing about Bobo Dioulasso: it has farmland in the middle of the city! The area is very organized and divided into hundreds of small parcels.

houses on top of the hill, kora, burkina faso
In the village of Kora, there is a small habitat on top of the hill. It is very unique, and the locals are aware of it. Hence, there is a $2 entrance fee. When I was heading up, the women selling their produce at that crossroads asked me to wait while they got the attendant to charge me. He wasn’t at the ticket stand because nobody ever comes up here. It took him only 20 minutes to arrive.
mysterious houses, kora
It felt very mysterious around here. Maybe because it was so quiet.
