TDI: 2-3 What's this?

This image gallery contains photos from Cascadas Roberto Barrios and Zona Arqueológica Palenque. Both sites are located near the city of Palenque in the state of Chiapas, Mexico.

Visitors like to use this slick rock as a toboggan. Unfortunately, I didn’t try it because I was busy freediving in the pool, down on the left. It is 10 m deep, and there are plenty of huge fish hanging out.

Roberto Barrios is an exceptionally beautiful and fun park to visit. (I am obsessed with it!) Why? Well, all the trails are in the shade of the lush forest, so the park is very comfortable for exploring. Also, these natural pools are swimming-friendly, with perfect water temperature. The entrance to the park is fairly cheap, and it is usually not busy. Probably because Agua Azul waterfalls are a much more popular destination in the Palenque area. On this link, you can find out more about Cascadas Roberto Barrios.

The city of Palenque is also pretty fun. Because of the abundance of street markets, it has a real Mexican feel. Interestingly, all of the tourist accommodation facilities (hotels, resorts, hostels) are located on the same small street.
